Untitled work in progress

I am an image-maker. I use film, sound, installations, sculptures and paintings to depict outcomes but all my ideas stem from the mental sketch. These drawings are done in soft-pastel, using only a black to create grey tones. They are intended to be sketches, albeit extensions to sketchbook ideas stretching back a number of years. The line of enquiry works on several levels, pursuing a number of themes which have arisen from the original idea.

They are all done from memory, are unpolished, and contain mistakes which confirm their sketch-like qualities as opposed to photographs, photo-realistic images or real space. They are quite raw pictoral illusions of space upon a flat surface. Their intention is to be a drawing!

The scale of this piece is an experiment upon the viewers perceptions of spatial awareness, of being drawn into the illusion, of becoming a part of the work, or of relating to the work through life-size scale
